Hello, I just got a second 125 gallon tank so we can separate our turtles and each will have an appropriate sized tank. I elected to get two XP3 filters instead of one XP4 filter because I get more capacity with two XP3's. What is the most efficient way to setup the two xp3 filters? Run them separate with separate intake and exhausts (2 intakes and 2 exhausts) or can I run them in series (exhaust of first filter goes into intake of second filter)?. Thanks.

Kev-G - I would suggest that you not run them in tandem as they will have slightly different out puts. If the two combined meet the 5x rule I would suggest that you put them at opposite ends of the tank. That will stir up the tank more and that is good. After you get the bacteria filters going you can clean them at different times keeping the filtration going. By having two you have doubled your filter clean up. Good Luck!

I agree with running them independently in parallel. One at each end. I can't wait to do this when I get a bigger tank. Parallel. Series could give you problems later on when one doesn't work as well as the other, due to clogging or age or whatever.
Take care,

I have:
2 kitties
lots of plants
1 female RES, Itai, 1 female Western Painted, Daisey. They have lots of colorful pet fish and about 770 gal water.
