Yes it matters! Intake has to go to intake and output has to go to output.

Check the four clips that hold the lid on. Are the all securely fastened?

Also check the black housing/o ring around the top of the filter. Is it securely in place?

Have you checked for cracks in the plastic? If any of the housing are clips are cracked, it would probably leak.

One other source of leaking water is where the intake and outtake hoses connect with the other parts of the filter. They are really hard to fit over the nozzels. I think the setup instructions wanted those hoses to cover the nozzels by an inch or more. The only hard thing about the setup, I thought, was attaching those hoses.

Try to find the source of the leaking water.

I maybe should have asked this before---what do you mean when you say you think the leak is coming from the back of the filter?

Is the level that releases the tubing completely pushed down?

Unplug your XP2, then lift up the black handle, remove the whole intake and discharge piece, (lift up) and then reseat it. Make sure it goes in good.

Then push the handle down, wait 2 minutes and plug it in...

That sounds like the lever/handle Muirner and I were talking about. Was that what caused the leak?
