im using a screen lid and i cant clamp it to the lid can i? and i have nothing around the tank to clamp it too. im in such distress

What can you clamp what to? You really need to be a bit more specific. If you're talking about a lamp.. well you CAN'T clamp it on if you use a screen lid, that just seems obvious. Why do you have a screen lid on the tank anyway?

yes a clamp lamp. and i have a lid becuase i dont want it to escape and i have a cat

They sell stands for lamps, look for Zoo Med Repti Lamp stand or something similar.

You can use something like this if you don't wish to spend the money on a specialty lamp.

If you have a really study screen, you could place the lamp right on it. This, of course, depends on the lamp and the distance the bulb would be from your turtle (if it were on the screen).

Yup, I had mine resting right on the screen for a long time, but then switched to a different kind of light and had to back it up a bit to get the right temp on his basking rock. If sitting it on the screen won't work for you, what I did was to screw an L-bracket right into the wall to clamp it on. I'm currently looking for a new clamp with a hinge so I can adjust the light and consequently, move his basking spot. It's kind of a permanent solution, but it's very sturdy and works well if you know exactly where it needs to go.
