I just purchased the Marineland visi-therm stealth, and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to stick the whole thing in the water, cord and all. I'm a little weary of wires and water. Is it safe?
I asked the same question myself when I first got the question, but when it means "Fully Submersible", it's fully submersible, whole heater unit, and the cord. The only part that can't be wet, is the plug itself.
Though it can happen, so far it has not happened to anyone that I know that a turtle would bite the cord, if you're uneasy, leave the cord out of the water, but it doesn't matter really.
I just got a 250W VisiTherm heater last night to replace the 200W glass tube heater that burned out in Sheba's tank (old one just stopped working).
I love it. It's cool that it is made out of black plastic.
Yes, you stick the whole thing in the water. It's safe & they don't chew on the cord once they figure out it isn't edible! I have been using turtle heaters like this for 17 yrs!

Yea, I just bought the 200W version. At petsmart the price was $34.99, but I price matched from their website and got it for 19.99 and didn't have to pay shipping.
