I am planning on buying an xp3 today, I have a 55 gallon tank, because I read you have to get a filter that is 2 or 3x the size of your tank, but I have read some posts were people have 100+ tanks and use this filter, just want to make sure I am going to get the right one.

Agreed. I use an xp3 for my 100 gallon tank but it would have been great in my 55 gallon tank. Wish I'd had it back then!
