I got this one as it was the only one at the store..got a digital thermometer as well, as in the pictures above.

i did a little mistake on buying it for a 15 gallon tank on my 10 gallon tank, so the water level on the heater doesnt quite reach it, also.it only has a thread to rotate it left or right for higher and lower...thing is, i think it do works, but my turtles tend to bite it..
And the thermometer takes some time to "show" the ideal temperature, sometimes it just a gray square..thats when i get stuck as in, i dont know if it has the right temperature.
I was recommended a digital eletronic thermometer because they are more accuarate.

So, i guess what im asking is, should i stick with those or get a better heater?cause they didint have submerged heaters..I should try another store.

Thanks!,hope i was clear.

The thermometer should be okay for quick reference, but a digital one will be more accurate. That heater needs to have the water up to where the water line is drawn on it in order to work properly. For one thing, it probably can't read the temperature of the water and is sensing the air temperature instead. That could lead to overheating since the built-in thermostat can't work properly that way. Another thing is that glass will probably overheat and shatter if it is not far enough in the water when it turns on.

If I were you, I'd try to find another heater that can be fully submerged. What is the room temperature where you are at, and how cold does it get at night?

I hate to be mean, but I tried that heater for my sisters fish tank, and the thing is a piece of crap. I spent four hours trying to get the right temp(it has no temp markings on the thermostat), and even when I thought I had it, it was to inaccurate to keep the temp constant. Plus it is way to fragile to use with RES that are as big as your's.
