Equipment Review and Discussion :: An ok deal?

I am (maybe) going to buy a used 75 gallon tank for $100. I know what to look for to make sure it's in cood shape, nice flexible silicone adhered to the sides etc. but i just want to make sure that i'm not getting ripped off. He was asking $150 for it but i talked him down a bit. I was hoping to get one cheaper but i would really like to see Turtley in a nice luxurious tank ASAP. What do you all think?

It sounds like a good deal to me. I paid $155 for my brand new 55 gallon and $275 for my used 135 gallon. So, that sounds about right. Does it come with a stand?

No, no stand. I saw a stand from somebody else on craigslist for $20, it was for a 75 gallon tank, but my boyfriend is really into woodworking so he could bulid me a nice stand for the cost of the materials. I think i'll just have him do that, then i can have it at the height i want. I have my tank on a low table now and it makes it really easy to clean and maintain since i'm a little on the short side. Oh boy i'm so excited, he's gonna be one happy turtle!

Where'd you get a new 55 gallon tank for $155?! When I was looking around here all I could find were acrylic tanks and they were around $235 for that size. I was thrilled to find a used glass one on Ebay!

I got it at Petsmart. Nice glass tank, also came with heater (but I've hard to replace that) and a 60gal filter.
