does anyone know anything about this product

it says its an underwater pond filter for ponds up to 700 gallons, and its $44? am I missing something, like would this need to be combined with a higher rated pump?

If im not missing anything, could it be used in a regular tank?

I believe a pond filter like this one really isn't anything more than a good bio filter. That's why they are so cheap. Bio filter works for a pond where there's a lot of water and it's not a problem if "junk" settles in the bottom. In an aquarium, though, you also need mechanical filtration to filter out the solids and carbon to keep the water smelling good along with the bio filter.

Also, since pond filters like this one which is meant to run under water are so large, in aquariums they take up to much space.

The web-site says, that is dose mechanical and biological filtration. It also says pump not included. So I am guessing you are going to need to buy a pump. There was only one customer review, and he said it was a "huge hassle to clean." So I would just buy something like the fluval FX5, which can do up to 400 gallon tanks.

It's only $44 because you do need to buy a pump (which will more than double the price).

Yeah,I have that one in one of my 125 gallon ponds.
I don't think that price include the pump.
It works ok.
