Why would you need this? Do you have gravel in your tank?

I think he's thinking of using as a vacuum to pick up the crap in the tank, sort of like a turkey baster

Well, I was in the python/gravel vac section at PetCo, and saw something similar to what BigAls online lists as the Sludge Extractor. I am not sure if it is the same thing, but it was made by Eheim. I figure it works like a vac to suck up the waste at the bottom of the tank???

I wouldn't get this, since to use this properly you'll need to have gravel in your tank, and having gravel in your tank is VERY harmful for your turtle.

If you look at the picture you'll see that it's not built for glass bottom tanks. Or anything other than gravel.

If you want to suck up poop and stuff like that get a turkey baster. (It looks like a huge eyedropper)

A slightly more automated way to get the junk off the bottom of the tank is a little battery powered hand held vacuum cleaner called a "Mr Cleaner". You can get them here:

I love mine, though the minnows that are currently in the turtle tank do a pretty good job of cleaning up.
