Im planning on getting the Tetra Whisper 40 Air Pump for me 40 gallon tank to resolve the protein slick stuff on the surface of the water. I am also planning on getting this Penn Plax Bubble Wall Air Diffuser -14". Is that all i need or do i need tubing or anythiing else?

Have you tried to agitate the surface of the water more by, say, aiming the filter output differently (if you can)?

i just got a tetra whisper 20 air pump and hooked it up today and attached the small bubble stone to it. you will need tubing to connect the air pump to the wall diffuser. (tubing is cheap, i think it was 8 feet for $.99). i also got air tube suction cups to keep the tubing from being out of control and everywhere. you might want to consider getting them also. to hold the tubing to the side of the tank.
