My review of the JurassiDiet Aquatic Turtle Food.

It's only been a couple weeks, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this product and to see if anyone else had any input.

- I could not find this at any pet store (even the large chains).
- The pellets are very very small (probably ideal for hatchlings).
- Pricey after shipping

My turtle loves the taste of this product. She eats up every last bite that I put in her tank (1 - 2 tablespoon per day/AM). It's hard for me to test how long the pellets stay afloat because Yoshi eats them so fast (which is a good thing). And because the pellets are so small, I believe it makes it less messy. Bigger pellets (that are not eaten whole) usually leave floating debris.

But I have also noticed...Yoshi has been extracting large amounts of solid waste (poop larger than usual). I'm not sure if that is a good thing. But I am assuming it has the right types of fiber to help clean a turtle's system out. Oh and the color is a darker brown...

I think its too early to tell if there are any changes in her shell condition. And I'll try to update with any other discoveries...

I just finished a bottle of Gourmet Aquatic Turtle Food by Zoo Med and I wanted to change it up. My turtle seems to be shedding ok before the Jurassidiet. Not sure if I will see a difference in shedding but I will keep an eye out for it.

I wonder how this compares to the Mazuri??

Neither of these sound particularly appetizing to me but then again I'm not a turtle.

hi...mr. turtle here....i am not sure if i am coming into this conversation at too late a time, but i am confused by the correlation between the food and shedding? HUH? also, my turtle (mr. turtle) isn't eating much at all and he/she (probably she) is about 3 years old....was wild about meat, no not so much....liked pellets, crickets, no just ho-hum and actually i was a little worried and thought maybe she was getting ready to lay eggs or something (cause she is doing the quacking and scratching her nails when she basks and when she does bask she is basking for hours on end...its weird...so question (yes, there is a question!!!) ...do you think that jurassidiet food will make her more hungry? it sounds like your turtle is really digging it....and i think that yeah, the poop is probably different due to different stuff in the food....also if there is more of it, it would make sense....like if we ate thanksgiving dinner every day....and gorged ourselves....my inclination would be to just give it a couple of times a week (like a treat) because isn't too much of anyone thing not good (except for sex and money HAHA)???? anyhow, thanks for more things to think about....never knew turtles could be so involved!!!

At 3 years, you should be able to sex Mr. or Ms. Turtle. Anyway, I don't think any particular pellet would make a RES more hungry. Variety is always good, I think it would be OK to add some to the rotation.
