Various accessories and equipment discussed here.

I mentioned before in another post that the measurements I took showed it was time for a change on Toku's MVB. So today I gave in and ordered a Mega-Ray 100w SB bulb. I know today is Sunday, so I don't figure the order to be processed till tomorrow. I will count tomorrow as day one of my order. I'm gonna document my purchase on here to give everyone an idea of ReptileUV's status when it comes to customer service, and the Mega-Ray bulb. I will take measurements and document the bulbs output to get hard evidence of the performance of these bulbs. I hope they have their act together and I will receive my bulb in a timely manner. I'm not to worried about the UVB output of my PowerSun. It has warmed up here, so I'm able to take Toku outside for some fresh UV rays from the sun. Being I'm in Finals week I have a lot of time to spend at my house studying, this gives me the chance to take Toku outside everyday:) I look forward to testing and documenting the Mega-Ray. I can compare my findings to the PowerSun. Stay tuned for updates as they come along:)

An update if you want to call it that. I haven't heard from or got any reply from ReptileUV about my order. I call them on Friday and the voicemail said it was full and could not except anymore messages. I ordered the bulb on the 28th of Apr. I'm gonna go on a limb and say they haven't pulled their head out of the cookie jar. I'm gonna have to call paypal and get my money back so I can order another Zoomed Powersun on Amazon. I guess I bit the bullet to see if we could order their products but I'm gonna have to say stay away from ReptileUV for now. I will make one more attempt to get a hold of ReptileUV tomorrow if nothing I'm gonna call paypal. I will update you all about what happens.

That really sucks... I wonder if we'll ever know what's going on over there.

I'm not too sure Steve, I called PayPal customer service today and filed a claim. I made several calls to ReptileUV, with no answer or reply. I have emailed them twice but no reply. PayPal is gonna give them 30 days to send me a product or I get my money back and a claim will go against ReptileUV. Until they or Bob to be exact contacts me I recommend no one deal with them. There is obviously some issues going on there, without any answers. Time to look for a new bulb, maybe I will try the Arcadia bulb. I need to get a PowerSun for now tho, Toku's bulb readings are almost non-existent. Very, very low UVB output.

Oh, I always take him out when the temps warm up. He has a kiddie pool in the back yard. But I leave in the mountains so it is only warm during the summer our temps just raised above the 50's less than a month ago. So, he only gets about 4-5 months out of the year. I leave during most the summer when not in school.

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear about your experience with ReptileUV but smart that you paid with paypal and are able to at least file a claim and get your $ back.

I've been using those powersun bulbs for a few years now. While they aren't the best bulb in terms of specs, they seem to be consistent and my turtle seems to enjoy basking under them. I don't have a fancy meter like you two have (surprising since I have every other darn gadget) so I can only speculate based on his health and condition.

Thanks Veipa, I am glad that I used PayPal, too. Yeah the PowerSun isn't horrible. I have been using the PowerSun for several years and have seen the changes the bulb went thru a few years ago. Unfortunately I did not have a meter back then. Toku bask under it and is in good health. I just wanted to try the Mega-Ray, I have heard so many good things about the bulb, but have also heard about the experience I took a chance on. It is a shame really, such a good product can't be produced reliably and consistently. The UVB meter is a great tool, gives an idea of what Toku is being exposed to.
