Good god look at the nails on him. He doesn't scratch you when you pick him up does he?

You know surprisingly I've never been scratched, but I have been bitten several times trying to feed him. :)

The first thing I thought was "Edward Scissorhands" when I saw his picture. My baby is still so little, I can't imagine "him" having claws that long!
You have a beautiful turtle.

Henry's approximately 4.5" to 5". I don't know how old he is because I just recently bought him at a pet store. He is a very happy turtle with a lot of personality. Now that I've been reading up on turtles I'm thankful I rescued him from the 15 gallon tank with 2" of water with no basking light at the pet store. He's quickly wiggled his way into mine and my husband's heart to become a great addition to our family.

He's a handsome devil. :) My RES has those Scissorhands front paws as well. They don't scratch, but the claws on the back feet are lethal.

My male RES scratches my skin a lot when he's trying to climb on top of me, even through clothes. That why I usually wait till winter to let them climb me when I'm wearing thicker clothes. :)

Yes, I let them climb all over me.

Henry is still shy. When I take him out, he usually just sits there, or he'll try to walk away to find someplace to hide. I decided to post a few more pics. I didn't want to post too many in my first post.
