General Care Discussion :: Lucille--basking

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Lucille is doing much better in her new tank and correct water temperature, but now I have another question.

I have a flourescent light which provides UVA and B on for 12 hours during the day. I also have a basking lamp. Am I to keep the basking lamp on for 12 hours also? She seems to be basking a lot, but maybe that is because she was sick and is now getting better?

thanks.

You want both of them on for an average of 12 hours a day. The basking light produces heat, which your RES is drawn to to bask (it also is responsible for various physiological functions, including digestion).

Keep both the of them on for 12 hours
The basking mimics the sun
And the flurocent sends UVB
dont confuse ur turtle now

You can get a timer for a hardware store
To automatically turn the lights on and off

I have my basking lights so they replicate the sun's movement. I have a timer, on at 7:30 am- 9:30pm.
