it's either related to mating, or it's a territorial issue. Cute, eh?

very cute. i dont think its territorial because theyve been together since ive got them and there hasne been any problems and i think there still too young to mate. there both only about 4 months old.

How big are they and what size tank do you have them in?

one is about 2 and a half inches and the other is about 2 inches maybe a few millimeters more on both of them, there both in a ten gallon tank.

They ideally need to be in about a 50-gallon tank (10 gallons of tank per inch of shell length). If the space they're in is too small, it will increase the chances of territorial disputes and could lead to aggression. I'd start thinking of getting a bigger tank.

It doesn't have to be a glass tank--you could temporarily upgrade with something like a Rubbermaid storage container or better yet, a stock tank, which is meant to hold water. You could also try looking for a used tank in the classifieds, garage sales, etc.

Thanks for the link on the stock pools. I want to make a large pond after he outgrows his 55 gallon. I should have plenty of time to save up for it.
