My baby is a freak of egg laying nature!!!!

Ok ya'll...who have been following Tobi-girl laying eggs or not, well.....she laid 7 more tonite!!!!

For who dont know Tobi-girl is 4 1/2 years old and is 10" long and 8.5 wide. She laid her 1st time on 9/9/07, 4 eggs...I thought it was over for her 1st clutch...
Then she laid 6 eggs about 2 weeks later....THEN 4 eggs about 2 weeks later...THEN 6 more about 2 weeks after that!

I was SURE she was done; and THEN..she started acting gravid AGAIN 11/10/07!!! And this evening she laid 7 MORE eggs!!!!!!

So, I suppose her 1st "clutch" would be considered 27 eggs?~! Also, they arent fertile. (She has been with NO boys  )

She acts great! Eats cuttle bone and everything else when she is done and sleeps. I dont understand this. My vet is trying to look up some stuff in her books for me. But other than that we have no herp vets around. And since she is not "sick" I dont really think she should go. But if she keeps laying every two weeks.....Im for sure calling SOMEONE!!!

Anyhooooo....it IS a beautiful thing! And here are some MORE pix for all of you!!! :D The pix arent very good since it was PITCH dark when she laid and our light was going out so I couldnt tell where I was aiming...lol...so I'll just post a few!

Here she is before laying "feeling out the hole"..one leg in!
Image
1st egg coming out..FAST and couldnt take a good pic!
Image
2nd or 3rd egg coming...I think I missed a couple...
Image
Another...still half inside...cool huh?
Image
And another...I was BUGGIN by now! lol
Image
This is just a cool pic of her back foot half in the hole protecting the eggs in between. (I think its cool  )
Image
Momma feeling all her eggs with her back feet right before she was done! Really cool!
Image
The eggs, after I dug them up, since I wasnt SURE how many there were. BIG huh?!
Image
My girl "still entranced, back legs kneading on my daughters hand. (She does this for like over an hour after laying. So we take her inside and put her on a towel and let her do her thing. Then rub her legs cuz she is stiff from all that work!)
Image

Hopefully...THIS is the last post like this...for a LONG while! :) Hope you all enjoy!!

I wish my turtle would pop out eggs that easily, ;), and that weather outside wasn't always below zero or snowing.

Anyways, looking good, healthy active one that isn't afraid to let go unneeded weight (unlike another turtle I know).

If I may, what is the texture, moisutre level, and overall feel of the dirt she dug a hole in?
Hey hey hey.

My goodness! Poor girl! It's a good thing she seems to have the routine down. I love seeing the pictures, the last one is so wierd, she really is in a sort of trance. Makes me glad i have a boy!

WOW.
Glad I ain't a turtle!! Good job w/ her though! 8)

I've been following Tobi & she's making me nervous! I have a 3(?) yr old penn cooter about 9" that's bound to begin doing this soon. She's in a pond outside, but the enclosure has a lot of roots in the soil, and not much sand (regular hard potting soil). I'm thinking of moving all my plants to give her more room when the time comes.

Tamara- Thanks. And what was funny was Tobi laid under a tree tonite! With roots and all! It took a little bit longer to dig, but that is what she chose...so I had no choice. Good luck when yours are gravid! :)

Well...I guess there's hope for Liza then if Tobi can dig through roots then I know it's at least possible. I really dread moving some of those plants...a few are as tall as me, others are bushy. Sigh.

How warm is it there? I'm in FL, so it's ok here, but I was just curious as she was outside late & temps some places are pretty cold right now... Did she seem to mind?

Poor Tobi! She has to be soooo sore from all those eggs. Mine has only laid once (only 2 eggs) and she was so tired from it she just layed on her dock under the heat lamp and slept all day. She deserves lots of treats :)
