And ive noticed how great of a site www.bigalsonline.com and im now considering on even buying a XP4 in the near future for my 55 gallon tank...it sayd that the flow rate is up to 275 gallons which makes it perfect for my upgrade.....but im wondering...could it be TOO powerful for my 55 gallon?

I wouldn't think so. Having an xp4 might be better because when you upgrade in the future, that one can pump up to 275 gallons, which would be great!

unless you have a small hatchling, that should be fine. the only thing you should be aware of is having a young turtle getting stuck by the suction of the filter.

XP4 is a bit much in a 55 Gallon tank. The filter will include a spray bar, so that might be easier on a smaller turtle. How big is your turtle? What's the water level in that tank?

I think an XP3 would be fine in a 55 gallon tank. I use one for my 100 gallon tank and it works fine - keeps the water sparkling and fresh. I've got one 7" male turtle in there.

i'm using a 600gph water pump in my 135 gallon aquarium. lovin it!

the intake is split tho, so it's not pullin all 600 from one spot.

Dillon, if you plan to upgrade tanks later then go with the XP4. If the flow is too strong for your 55G it comes with a valve that lets you reduce the outflow. Also, using the spray bar that comes with it will further reduce the flow.

It works for spotsmama in a 100 gallon tank perfectly. Worst case you can buy another smaller filter to help, but because males are smaller I think it-the xp3- should be fine.
