For now break up the pellets you have to make them an edible size for the baby. Look for some Reptomin Baby pellets---they're smaller and have a bit more calcium in them.

I'd get some anachris (aquatic plant) for the baby to rest on (s/he needs a bigger enclosure) and nibble. You could also get some earthworms and cut one up into small pieces---most hatchlings are attracted to food that moves as well as smelly foods.

The basking area is a rock? Can the turtle get on it easily?

Yeah, the turtle gets on to the rock easily. It's the first thing that he tries to get to after being in the water. I was really surprised it was this small, good thing I took it from them, because they didn't know how to care for it. Thank you though...I'll try to get those plants and cut up the food. I've tried coaxing it into eating, but all it does it sleep on the rock It doesn't even sink when it swims...just floats . Poor little thing! I hope it survives

I'd go with a rubbermaid container - I have a 2" map in a 25 gal & he LOVES it. You can usually find things around the house to make a basking area, but will need the lights & a heater.

You can break up the large pellets - or soften them up by soaking for a minute or 2 will make it easier to eat. Such a cutie!

It looks like it has an R.I. I lost a turtle because of this. I put a new turtle with my old ones and didn't knew it had an RI. Hes like that, She swims funny and cant sink. After a week (?not sure. I can't really remember) One of my old turtle swims funny too. Well she also got an RI and she died. You should not put them together in any case.

I just placed them both on the tank for like a minute and they are scared of each other...thanks! I don't think i'll put them together any time soon

I hope your older turtle didn't catch the disease. Watch him/her if it started to swim funny too.

The little turtle is doing fine, I think. It's eating
Toutolina is doing great, playing rough and very energetic as usual haha

that a great news. She is eating, the chances of recovery is great. You did a good job. When one of my sick turt started eating it continued its way to a full recovery. The one that died didn't eat for about 3 weeks. When I remember this event, i get mad at myself because i didn't do enough research about them it happened a year ago and it still bothers me.

Good luck with your turts. You are a very good owner and show you really care for them.
