General Care Discussion :: Lots of Bubbles OK???

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I recently cleaned my tank and my filter and left a little bit of air in my filter so that it generated a decent amount of air bubbles. I did this so that it would get some movement on the surface of the water so that i don't get any film on the surface and helps delay any smells between water changes.

Well it seems i over did it a bit and my filter is spitting out a lot of small bubbles... Its been like this for about 2 days now and it doesn't seem to bother the turtle at all but I was just wondering if the bubbles may stress the turtle out or may cause any other problems?

Thanks for the info in advance :D

The bubbles wouldn't hurt the turtle at all, but that might no be good for the filter. Why don't you pick up an air pump and air stone? They're not expensive (the whoe setup should be less than $20) and they're good for aerating the water and creating surface movement. If you're having trouble with a smelly tank that might indicate too small of a tank or too small of a filter.

well the smell just kinda seem to come from the stagnant water because it had a slight film on the top... I have a canister filter magnum 350 and a decent sized in water filter in a 70 gal. tank... i have an air pump but the small bubbles do such a good job lol... because they get the whole tank as well as create just a bit of movement underwater but not so much so that it would bother the turtle...

I dunno i guess if its not going to hurt him and it doesn't seem to bother him i'll probably leave as is... Thanks for the info =)
