A while back, I posted pics of my 'girls' to see if anyone could sex them for me. Between that and the vet, it seemed I had 2 females. I'm not so sure about that now. Seems Pandora is sprouting longer claws. Not scissorhands or anything but noticibly longer than Rocks.

The vet said they grew too fast so I was wondering if maybe it just things like claw growth a while to catch up? I'm still going to wait a while before I make any guesses.

I should have seen that coming steve :-)

I'm not sure pics would help right now but maybe I'll take some tonight anyway. A close-up, side by side shot is my only hope because like I said, they're not huge yet but I notice a difference. I'll get them up here tomorrow morning

I'm still thinking they're girls. :D What's happening with the tails?

I'm not really sure. These are my first turts so I don't really have anything to compare them to.

Ok, I just picked Pandora up and upon closer inspection, his/her tail is longer than Rocks' but I'm not sure how far down the cloacea is supposed to be for a male. The middle 3 claws on each 'hand' seem longer than the others, while Rocks' claws are all the same length.

I forgot to bring the camera home from work tonight (way too much going on) so I'll grab pics tomorrow at lunch and post in the afternoon. I can never get a pic of Pandora's tail tho because he/she always tucks everything in when I pick her up.

I don't BELIEVE this!! I just spent 10 min taking pic after pic. Get back here to work to load them up and it says there's no pics on the disk. I'm gonna lose it! Guess I'll try again tonight

Waiting for pics... :)

The cloaca should be noticeably more toward the tip of the tail than the shell. And the part of the tail before the cloaca is thick and broad.

I've given up on pics. There's something wrong with either my computer, the camera or the disk. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. *sigh* I've tried several times now and they're hating me for it so I don't want to bother them again.

During my attempts, I did get a really good look at both of them. Like I said, Pandora's 3 middle claws are obviously longer than the ones on either side. Rocks' claws are all short. Pandora's tail is long but quite fat where it meets the shell. Rocks' tail looks about the same but it's shorter. The cloacea (sp?) seems to be about in the middle of the tail on each of them. Therein lies the confusion.

Are the claws really long, or just a bit longer than before? Your original picture post mentions Pandora as a potential male and I wasn't 100% sure either... I guess you need to draw a proportionately accurate diagram :D

Maybe we're dealing with a trans-gender turtle here? (Bad joke.)
