General Care Discussion :: Sylar finally shed a scute!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Sun Jun 15, 2008 7:30 pm   Sylar finally shed a scute!

Sylar has been in desperate need of a shed for some time. I even noticed some scutes would move alittle if I touched them...but none we coming off. Yesterday I looked at him in the water and one thin see-through scute was standing straight up, waving in the water. I picked him up to get a better look and when I touched it, it fell off. (it FELL off I didn't pull on it or anything) This is the first time he's shed!!! Aw my baby is growing up!

Aww, I wish my little guy would finally shed his scutes. He's got some air bubbles showing up under them, so I'm just waiting for them to come off finally. Yay for little Sylar!

Awesome.
Squirt just shed a couple months ago. He's a good shedder though, he has never retained any scutes.

I'm waiting for George to shed scutes too, will be the first ones! (That I've remarked, since he's been with me - then again he's only about 2inches - speaking of which, need to measure him again).

Pics of Sylar?

Almost a week later and while checking on Crush today I saw one of his outer scutes wiggling in the water. Maybe this thread is lucky? :P

well after about a year my baby is close to shedding too. the dark spots on the shell seem to be getting lighter and lighter. so far the 2 scutes on the top of the shell seem to be starting there and work across left and right. i havnt really noticed untill i knew they shed their scutes

Hurts to see your little babies grow up doesn't it? Then they get old and picky and try to outsmart you

One of my babies is shedding, I think.
When they shed, does the scute look clear?
