Franklin has finished shedding and he looks great, However.....



(picture above) These two designs have just appeared. what are they?

and by biggest worry this white(ish) spot, because he just finished shedding its not air and its not dry, what is this?

Those 2 designs just look like the change in shell coloring that happens as the turtle matures.

Are you sure he is completely done shedding those outer small scutes? That looks like an airbubble to me. Push on it, does the white spot move? And does the scute feel loose to you? ( don't pull it off as I'm sure you know)

I’m positive its not air and it already shed. I felt it and there was no movement. The color matches the ones that already shed (they looked different before), and when he’s dry it doesn’t “lift”.

Does it go away when it's wet? To me it now looks like just a piece of shell that dried before the other areas??

Franklin looks absolutely gorgeous.

On your question about the design - what exactly is it that you see that's new? Is it where it looks like the yellow is spilling into the black?

The shell looks wet to me in the pictures. Could you show us some pictures of the white blotch when the shell is dry? From what I can see, it doesn't look particularly worrisome - maybe just a little hard water stain. You might give it some time and see if it changes at all.

Nice-looking carapace. Especially in the third pic, it looks like some air has gotten under the scute. Can't tell much from the last pic. Keep an eye on it and see if gets larger.
