We have a male (I think) RES about 7-8 years old..he's pretty big...we were just fortunate to get a 40gal long tank free..with solid wood frame..we have a fluval filter, I don't know what size or anything but it's definitely not big enough. When we first browsed thru this site, there was a posting of a home-made filter w/plastic container and plumbing pieces. Does anyone know what posting that was? thanks :?: :?:

Horsepower is how fast you hit a wall. Torque is how far you move a wall

I'm in the process of building my own as well. I'll post a DIY. It will be a 2 stage (two parts to the filter) and can be any flow you want depending on the pump you get. This is really good because you can make a big filter in a big air tight container but just change the pump in order to increase flow and now the whole thing.
