Habitat - Indoor :: Water, FIltered or non!

Is it ok to fill the tank with non filtered water? My girlfriend seems to think our regular tap water is not good enough for our RES's. The only problem I feel with using the filtered water is the sink it's connected to won't put out warm water. So what I asking is it better to put in cold filtered water or warm tap water. I will post some more pics later of our little friends. Oh, and the older RES is fine around our new baby.

i use cold tap water with a water conditioner. not cold cold water but like room temp. as long as you use a water conditioner you'll be fine

I use cold tap water with water conditioner as well. The coldest our tap water gets is 80* so we use as cold as we can.

If the water is reverse osmosis don't use it soley. It has little to none of the good minerals, etc that tap water does. Mix it half and half with tap water if you feel you need to. I use RO to top off the tank. I only do it because our PH is high and the water is very hard. I have fish too so it is really for them. The res are very tolerant of imperfect water.

Conditioner? What is that? What does it do for the water. I really appreciate it, everyone on here is so helpful. J-

water dechlorinator. just takes the chlorine out of the water. or you can let the water sit for a day or two.

Get any kind of dechlorinator - it all works. But many here use Reptisafe or aquasafe.
