If you can take the MVB and filter, by all means do. You won't need to use them while you're away from home - turts will be fine for a few days or weeks without them (but be sure and change the water frequently so it won't get foul) - but they are expensive and you'll want to be sure they are safe.

Good luck. we're watching it on the news and hoping for the best.

FEMA is also here at Texas A&M as well - again in case anyone needs a place to go. They are preparing to house folks at Reed Arena in College Station.

I am from new orleans and everyone knows what happened during katrina. This thing looks like it is going to get N.O. again and I am going to leave early tom morning. I am going to bring him in a cardboard box, lined with a couple of wet towels. I will also be putting the digital thermometer in there to moniter the temp.

I hope this does not end up like last time. I was away from my house, which recieved minimal damage, for about a month.

Wow keep us updated, I hope everything works out OK.
I have NO IDEA what I would do if I had to evacuate. I live 5 miles from the ocean, so its not entirely out of the question that it could come up someday. But the shelters don't let you bring pets! And my turtle tank is in the BASEMENT. So is Ziggy's (sun conure) cage. ughh I don't think I could leave if I couldn't take all my babies! Look at my sig! What would I do with all of them???

I hope everyone and everything is OK - luckily, we only got some outer band weather from this one. Now I keep my eyes on Ike!!!

I guess at least I have everything ready should I have to go through this again with Ike or any one of the other 2 out there trying to form!
