Habitat - Indoor :: New Basking Dock - Finally

So, my new dock finally came yesterday. Mr. Turtle wasn't a bit shy of it. I'm so glad to be able to get it finally. I've been due for a new one for quite a while. Here's a picture:



I just looked over and Mrs. Turtle is seriously thinking about giving it a try too.

The dock looks good, but you should pull the lamp out of the tank and fill the tank up more. This will give the turtles more swimming room. Also, I would take off the wire gaurds around the front of the lamp, the turtles can very easily climb up into the lamp with those there and the turtles could get burnt. Also, unless that's an MVB, you'll need a UVB bulb as well.

The dock looks good though!

unstmurf, I have a UVB bulb, and filter on the way now. That's why my tank is only half full. I've been having to change out the water every couple days, and it was too much work! Normally, yes, it is filled clear up. I also took the wire guard off about 10 seconds after I took the picture.

What did the basking area used to be?

The next basking area is going to be the large turtle dock..when I do I'm going to open the box and make sure I get the grey one instead of the yellow one...Like the color better.

Mr turtle sure looks happy up there, hope the Mrs. gives it a try soon.
You know you can hang your lights over your tank instead of using clamps. (After an almost fatal experience with the clamp kind I will never use them again.) I used the kind of hangers that you can get in the garden center for hanging plants. That way I was able to raise my water level alot higher without making a basking area over the tank.
