So what I did was buy a coupler piece for about 50 cents, and 10ft of hose. I pushed the coupler in the end of the standard siphon hose, and the other into the new hose. Voila! hose long enough to go straight out the door. So now i dont have to worry about overflowing a bucket.

i have overflowed a countless number of buckets using that stupid vac.
lol. i'm surprised my mom hasn't disowned me.

It's dirty water. To keep from over flowing you just have to watch the bucket and pull out the vacuum before it gets too full.

I just used my regular old green fish net to sift through the sand and it worked amazingly. I got a glass and filled it about 3/4 of the way full to help dump out the junk from the net and I was able to pull up about an inch of minuscule rocks (smaller than 1mm) and all the waste. All you have to do is get a scoop of sand and bring it up to the water level to where only the metal lip of the net part is out of the water (the net part that's holding the sand and junk should still be the water). Shake the net back and forth about five times and all the sand sifts out leaving just the waste, dump that in the cup and start over. It took me about 15 minutes to clean all the sand in my 125 gallon tank.

Unt- Sorry for offending you but honestly Ive been having problems with some chicks on here this week. Haven't had any with you and I try to avoid them with you because you seem to be the only person that helps me, and the guy with the turtle "Michelangelo"

I'm actually not a guy, but I appreciate the thought  I understand if people give you a hard time, I had some people on another forum (a dog forum) that weren't exactly cordial to me. But I left because I didn't want to start trouble. I'm not saying that you should leave, but I've noticed that things go smoother when someone isn't treating you right to just not talk to them, or to talk to them privately in a serious manner.

 Oh my bad, my turtle's name is Michaelangelo, so I got confused. I do understand how you feel. I was raised that way and was quite a little hothead in high school. I've calmed just from experience. There are tons of turtle forums or forums with turtle sections. But don't feel that you have to leave.

Chris, he wouldn't survive on turtle times (his attitude would quickly get in the way, just like mine did)

and Screwhead, please ignore me too! ;)
