Feeding and Nutrition :: is too much veggie okay??

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I had written about how I mistreated my Kame before and lead to early Pyramiding and obesity. Now she had eaten veggie everyday…but it leads to a new question.

I am a person that can easily melt whenever I see her longing face…she would put the face and the eyes saying “feed me…feed me…feed me” and I ended up feeding her AGAIN.

So...can too much veggie hurt her? I give her veggie in the morning and noon and pellet in the evening. And in between if she put her longing face.
Her favorite veggies are carrot and kangkung (Indonesian water plant)…sometime I give her turnip green and lettuce (hardly touched).

I have this tedency to over spoiled her

Well, short answer, there's no such thing as too much veggies, long answer there is such a thing.

Basically, if they get too much veggies their poop could turn runny. But if there poop is normal, then it's OK.

Also keep in mind that turtles will eat until they throw up. It certainly wouldn't be good for her to be throwing up frequently for eating too much. Best thing is to re-train yourself to stop giving in to those pleading stare ;)

Carrots are high in sugar. I think it would be OK to spoiler her a BIT with leafy greens, but you might want to limit carrot and other sweet stuff like fruits and what not.

If you can't resist her begging, you can divide up her daily allotment of pellets into very small servings and that way you can feed her several times a day. Just be sure not to go over the daily limit. One way to manage it is to put a day's worth of pellets into each of the little boxes in one of the weekly pill containers that people use.

For leafy veggies, the suggestion is as large as the shell. Not sure for carrots or
fruits (blueberry, apple peels, etc).

wow the size of their shell?? ive been feeding my turtles 4 times that amount... and id always get floating leafy poos, so should i cut down on the lettuce? i alternate the days i feed them pellets and lettuce, or should i feed them both at the same time so their poos are not leafy?
