magnum 350 comes with everything. rena filstar is pumped up like it has gold in it. why pay more money for something that is not as good. magnum 350 beats filstar xp2 anyyydayyyyy stupid to even compare

xp2 - 100 bucks , 300 gph, for up to 75 gallon tanks.i just showed u a site for magnum 350 for 80 bucks 350 gph, for up to 100 gallon tanks. just look at the specs man and make ur decision. fluval and rena filstar are 2 very pricey brands of filters and everyone gasses em up like theres no comparison to them. sure they are good but there are filters out there just as good that will save you so much money.

Will a Rena Filstar Xp2 do the job? They are recommended for up to 75 gallon tanks and do 300 GPH which sounds fine for my 55 gallon tank, and they are only $105.

i got the xp3 for 120 at http://www.kensfish.com/filstarcanisterfilters.html it handles a 55 nicely. the xp2 may do the job however it's nice having the extra basket allowing me to play around with the media.

the magnum is not even in the same league as the xp3. no room for any kind of media, they last about 2 weeks before there so gummed up the water is barely moving. maybe it's because it's smaller and holds less? all i know is with the magnum 350 i had to clean my filter every 2 weeks, with my rena it's been about 6 weeks and i plan to clean it in a couple more.

what do you mean chill out? no ones geting hostile here. im just saying there are other filters out there before you just go buy a filstar xp2,3,4, whatever. obviously this is a biased forum topic. and i am respecting other peoples opinions. if you read what i wrote, i said rena filstar is good but its very expensive. and we were comparing the xp2 to magnum 350 ... not the xp3. sorry if you guys think im being offensive? i dont know why anyones telling me chill out? please clarify this i dont understand...

the guy said he wasnt working with alot of money i was just suggesting alternatives that were cheaper and not as popular as the rena filstar types or the fluval types that are at comparable quality for cheaper prices. and i apologize again if anyone found this offensive it was not meant to be taken that way...

the reason i said chill out was just cause you kept saying the the same thing. if they want to go with a rena so what. no point in trying to talk them out of it if they made up their mind

got ya  the bad thing about these forums is never knowing the tone of what's being said. you came across a little harsh, knowing that was not your intention i apoligise for jumping in. have a good day.

Just checking to see if these will work. :P I don't want to be replacing bulbs so this should last a few years I think.

as long as the clamp lamp has the ceramic base and is rated for the whats it would work. as for the bulb, the MVB's need to be replaced once a year even if they still produce light. The UVB only last about a year. the mega ray MVB bulbs are actually alot cheaper than that and in alot of peoples opinion are a better quality. i use a mega ray and it is one of the best bulbs ive had
