Since Niko is just a hatchling / baby should I really worry about filling his new 60x18x24 tank all the way when I get it or should I just fill it like maybe half way ?

As long as you put a place to cling on for resting and/or a basking dock, I think
it's alright to fill the tank all the way up :)

ive always had my turtle since she was a hatchling in deep water, i put in fake plastic plants that float to the surface of the water so she had something to cling to to rest

Well, resting spots is something I already planned on, was just curious what all of you guys thought. I guess deeper is better so this way Niko could get use to it now rather than later.

He'll be fine. Mine were only 3-4 months when they got their 55gallon. I recommend a suction cup plant or the reptile hammock.

I'm def gonna be going with some plants but planned on using the repti-hammocks like some others here did. Prolly not more that one or tw oof the big ones, wouldnt wana "nasty" the tank with two many of them.

I would just get one bud. Honestly he may be small but you'd be surprised how quickly they better their swimming skills.
