I remember someone posting a link to a place that sold cuttle bone without the hard backing. Please post again.

The Turtle cuttlebones do have a hard backing. Either way you get stuch prying off the hard back.

There was someone on here who said they found bulk cuttlebone at a store (local petstore I believe) that had the backing already removed, but that is the only time I've ever heard of such a thing. Don't remember who posted it though, sorry. None of the commercially available cuttlebone has the backing removed.

I think that was a mistake about cuttlebones with the hard backing already removed. Either the backing was very thin so it was hard to detect, or the person did not know what the hard backing looks like. Sorry. The only way to get cuttlebones without the backing is to remove it yourself.

Ahh ok, thanks everyone. I thought for sure I read something before that required no backing removal. I always end up losing half the bone and making a huge mess hahaha.

There was a member who long ago said she was able to find cuttlebone without the hard backing (and I believe her). She hasn't been on the forum in a very long time, though.
