I've posted lots of pics of Frankie outside, but few of Ralph outside. He's usually not too keen on the big wide world. Today I was cleaning his tank, and usually I just leave him in there while I drain the water and fill it up. But since I was changing 75% of the water (it's been a long time since I changed it!) I took him out. I figured, well, he's out of his tank, I may as well give him a go outside. I wrapped him in a towel to make him feel secure while I was carrying him, and just left him in the towel when I put him down.

"Nope, I'm not leaving my blankie!"

"Well...."

"Maybe if I go slow no one will notice."

"Yeah, I see you over there with that camera."

This look familiar?

Frankie a couple of months ago:

Unlike Frankie though, Ralph ran under the fence (making my heart skip a beat) and ran smack into the garbage can

I retrieved him, and he made a b-line for the lavender bush.

Close encounters of the blurry kind?

(notice the hand ready to smack the cat away if he tried anything funny)

Smudge says, "Well that was mildly interesting. Now I'm bored."

I was sitting cross legged on the ground, and Ralph came over and just rested his head on my ankle. It was so cute!
Image

He would have stayed there forever, but my leg was getting a cramp and I had to move.

I figured it was then about time to go back "home". I took a couple more pics, then took him in.

Ya know, my cat is like yours, Bulldog. He will be interested in Hurricane and Typhoon for a quick millisecond, and then he doesn't care anymore and moves on to more exciting things. Maybe it's because turtles are so still acting most of the time on land (obviously to protect themselves).

I couldn't help but laugh when I read about Ralph running head first into the trash can. I know I shouldn't, but something about that is so funny to me XD.

Aww! That's a cute one Novroz!

Alex - Ralph is always running into things head first. A while back he ran into a big rock, and it left a little mark on his shell! I'm just glad he stopped at the garbage can, and didn't run out into the lane  The bins are black, so to him it probably looked like a nice safe cave.
He's such a brat too! He'll be slowly walking to somewhere that I don't want him to go, and as soon as I move to get him, he takes off full speed! Guess he's never forgotten those first few months when his name was "Speedy" ;)

thx :)

huahaha ralph is so funny. You know...My friends find it hard to believe that turtle can act like that...they just think turtles are passive animal. And we, fellow owners, know better how active they are ;)

Ralph has a great personality. Frankie too. You adopted them both, right?

I think Typhoon is the girl version of Ralph. She'll be totally calm one second, then take off like a rocket the next, and smacks into everything in the process. That's probably how she dinged her shell, too.

I'd love to get them a super huge aquarium or outdoor stock tank for them to play in on the nicer days.

I got Ralph as a hatchling, when he still had his egg tooth ^_^ I rescued Frankie from the same pet store 12 years later :D

Your turtle has one of the pointiest noses I've ever seen! And it looks like he really enjoyed the outside world! :)
"So, are you obsessed with turtles?"
