My turtle does this head bob thing when hes basking and i enter the room, its so funny, anybody else's turts do this?

yes mine does the same thing. if i am in the room and i make any sort of noise, he starts to wiggle his arms as if he is swimming, bob his head, and he opens and closes his mouth. and his eyes are closed the whole time.

uh....blaydes, that doesnt sound good, open mouth breathing is a sign of RI....

Perhaps the turtle is begging, though I'm not sure why the eyes would be closed.

uh oh, i thought that he was pretty healthy. he never keeps his eyes open when he is basking tho. he just keeps them open to get on and the he just falls asleep.

Just watch him. My turts yawn on occasion while basking. If he's constantly breathing thru his mouth, that's when you need to worry.

how long has he been open mouthing? How much does he sleep?

he has a floating water plant that he sleeps on, he actually doesnt sleep as much as he used to since he got his new tank. he is so happy, he just swims all the time. of course he does bask too, the only time he opens his mouth like that is when i talk to him. he doesnt hold it open, he doesnt even open it up wide at all. just a tiny bit and instantly closes it.
