General Care Discussion :: Rehoming my turtles

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:40 am   Rehoming my turtles

I have two RES's that I need to find homes for. One is a male (about 2 yrs) and the other is a female (about 6 -8 mos) that are in the same tank but separated by a partition. I am no longer able to care for them as my job is having me travel more and I am not at home to provide care.

I have posted to Craigslist but have not had any luck with any inquiries. Does anyone have any suggestions other then posting at my vet or at a Pet store? I am in the Houston area and would love to find a home for my RES’s with someone who knows how to take care of them. I have a two large tanks, basking stations, two filters, two water heaters, UV light and basking lamp.

Please let me know if you are interesting or have a suggestion as to where else I might be able to find them a home.

Thanks!

I've posted a quote of your topic on another forum I'm on - I think there are some Texans there. Will PM you if I get any nibbles!

Just be careful who you give them to. Many will take them just for the equipment and get rid of the turtles.
Tell them you want updated pictures every now and then and have them show you pictures of their turtles to be sure they know what they're doing.

The folks in TX on my other forum don't have room for anymore turtles, but one might know of a turtle rescue near Houston? If you're interested, I'll try to get that information for you.

U-me You may want to make it clear what comes with the turtles, like equipment or what you are asking for it. Just make sure that they are serious or they may sell the equipment and throw the turtles in Lake Houston or one of the local dithces. Good Luck!
Things come to those who wait, - Just remember, someone probably got there first!
