hey, one of my 2 RES , I think, got a little swollen or big body lately.
I don't know if its a SHE or HE, all I know that they are two, about 1.5 year old, one is little bit bigger (the "swollen" one).

I saw strage thing happen last week. they were standing face to face, one of them shaked the hands in front of the others one head, and then they started to swim in rolls, trying to smell each others tail or something.

I don't think they were trying to breed am I right? maybe they were just playing? theyre still "young" and small for that, arent they?


anyway, here's a picture of the swollen one, in my opinion. hope its nothing....







by the way, both of them eating normally and acting normally.
maybe theyre bask little more, almost the whole day, but i think its ok...

your turtles are trying to bite each others backsides -- the "fluttering" is a sign if aggression.

the swollen body is probrably sweling due to a bite although it doesn't look too bad to me. that was about the same time my two turts started showing signs of aggression.
Save yourself alot of trouble and just separate them now. They will be ALOT happier. Neither like the feeling someone's trying to bite there rear or in my case my turt took off three toes of the other b4 I was smart enough to separate them. Once it starts it is not going to stop until one turtle gets really hurt or killed.

What do the front limbs look like---puffy as well?

yup, the front too. they eat most of the time pellet food (jbl agil and reptomin) , jbl turtle food (shrimps), cuttle bones. they dont like veggis at all

That's a pretty high protein diet. How much do they get at a feeding? How often are they fed?

From the pic, it looks like he's overweight. Can you post a pic of the front?

i can do that tommorow. they're getting pellets daily. i give them much as they can eat in 2 minuets

I personally don't like the idea of feeding them however much they can eat in 2 minutes or 5 minutes or whatever. I know a lot of people use this rule because it's mentioned on the pellets container. But honestly, a turtle (especially a grown one) can eat a whole lot more than he/she is supposed to in two minutes. The safest route is feeding a head-size amount.
