The last pic she wouldnt let go of me, i was in the water for 4 minutes, and she wouldnt let my finger go (from the paw, she didnt bite me today :D)

the 2 before the last one, i'm pretty sure Bobby is a she, and i added a couple picutre of Tode's nails, they are long!!!!

sorry if these pics are to big, i have re-set my camer and made the pics come out smaller now, so any new pics will definatly be smaller.

The one pic with the tail.. the next to the last pic looks like a male's tail to me, not female. Not sure if that's Bobby or not :)

If I could ever get a pic of mine with their tails extended I'd show you the difference as I have one male and one female. Also females have short claws and the male has the long ones.. so yeah I really think Bobby is a boy :)

I do have a guestion though. Do you keep that screen over the area where the basking light is? If so, it's more than likely filtering out much of the UVB light. The openings need to be much larger than that for the full effect of the light. Nice looking turtles though :)

PS is it possible for you to label those pics so we'd know which turtle they are of?

If you do not get them a UV light, then they will sicken and eventually die. No two ways about it. They NEED UV lights. UV is important to their physical and psychological health.

If your dad won't buy it, then you need to find a way to pay for it yourself. If you think it would help, I would be glad to speak with your dad.

i know that, i have got $30, and i plan on using it on the turtle, i already spent more than enough, another $20 wont hurt. Next time i find my way over to petsmart, i plan on not letting him/my mom stop me.

EDIT:I'll let you know if i need someone to speak with my dad, i think if i force myself to get one, he cant stop me, if he grounds me for disobaying (spell check :P), i'll probably find a way to sneak on the computer to let you know ;) i dont think he would be that cruel though, he know that i know loads more than he'll ever know about the turtles.

Good luck! I offered because sometimes adults "hear" these things better and believe them if they come from another adult rather than a kid. So if you think he needs to hear it from an adult, I would be glad to do it. :)

Well you can get UVB lights at petsmart that don't cost $30.. If it's your money you should be able to spend it however you like as long as it's reasonable and taking care of a pet and being responsible for it is very reasonable. I mean most kids your age would be wasting it on stupid stuff.. :)

I'm a mother of 4 and grandmother of 4.. so I kind of know what I'm talking about lol

if they have that in stock, i'll probably grab one of those, if not, i guess i'm outing $20

one question though, are the bulbs measured INCLUDING those 2 prongs on each end that plug in? or are they measured by the size of the bulb ITSELF?

Do you have the holder for a light like that?? If not you can buy something like this.. I know you can get it for less than this at other sites, but I found this to just show you the type. It's called a compact UVB light.

Ok, I see it now. I think they are measured without the prongs.. since the prongs insert into the holder.. not sure on that though.

It seems to me you have 2 males.. not a bad thing, no need to build a nesting box and go through all that hassle, not to mention they stay smaller lol

Those ESU lamps are almost useless. They are not a dependable brand of UV light. If you are purchasing a flourescent type, go with ZooMed, the highest percentage you can.

All "UV" lamps are not created equal!

In my experience the hoods that whole the tube style bulbs come in 18 inch, and then 24 inch. If you measured 23 inches, I would go with the 24 inch bulb...
