i have had my turtle for only about 5 days and he was eating the first day but i have not seen it eat since.... how long should they go without eating? the setup i have is a 29g tank 3/4 the way with water, floating turtle dock, heat lamp, heater and internal filter for 20-40g! i was thinking of adding another 20-40g filter... any suggestions??


also i was wondering if i have to leave the heat lamp on all hours for the turtle to bask? and the other light as well?

Usually it takes them a while to get used to there new tank and all that stuff. You may want to just keep offering it untill hes ready to eat.

josh-- Stick to the rules of the turtle road and he will come around. It may take over ten days if your water,filter and temps are correct.

You can leave your heat lamps on 24/7 and they will self regulate there heat. If you want to add another filter go ahead, the more filtration, the better!

You shoulden"t leave your heat lamps on 24/7 they need a photo period of 12 hours with light and 12 hours without light. You can also mimic the sunlight outside.

My turtle wouldn't eat either. And I used Nature Zone food, and other foods.

Then I tried the ZOO MED turtle food. He LOVES it and eats every bite!
