What does Pyrimiding do to a turtle...is it unhealthy or what? and what does it really look like? just the shell going up in different spots like a square pyramid?

From what i know an improper diet can be a cause..but im not 100% sure and yes it is a line going down the shell from top to bottom in shapes of a pyramid

From what I read during my struggling days to heal Kame, Pyramiding can cause something to it's liver and some other internal organs (I have forgotten).

Heavy pyramiding can make the turtle hard to move because the shape of it's carapas n plastron had changed.

Too bad I'm using cellphone, I can't link you to Kame's picture...she was having mild pyramiding because I gave her wrong diet before I found this forum.

The good news is, proper diet can heal mild pyramiding . Basically, every scute will protrude like a pyramid, the platron under the neck will also protrude (thanks God kame has shed this part).

Too much protein can also cause internal organ damage like kidney failure. The scutes on the carapace are not smooth as they should be and appear in a pyramid shape. This is a completely avoidable situation. The diet really needs to be corrected and treats or anything carrying large amounts of protein should be reduced.
