I took this pic trying to get a shot of Mango's mouth (something is going on with it), but it turned out to be quite a nice pic. Really shows off all his colours.

You can see one of his ventral fins is stubby. I don't know how exactly happened, but about 3 weeks ago I found him quite beat up, swollen mouth, bump on his head, and broken fin. Best I can figure is he tried to jump and hit the lid, hard.

Also, if anyone knows lots about bettas - his mouth has black around it and is slightly lopsided. I think it might be complications from his accident, but I want to make sure it's not some other sort of disease. He's otherwise acting normal - begging, eating everything in sight, and flaring at the ladies.
My current theory is that maybe he broke his jaw or knocked out some teeth when he injured himself. I read that on old bettas when they start to loose their teeth their mouth can turn black (Mango is quite young though).

What a pretty fish. The eyes match the blue on the scales. :D

Lol, um, I ate it :P It was really good, since it was *almost* over-ripe :D

And we almost never buy mangos, so it might be a while before I get another Mango + mango pic ;)

I've seen those, from glasscages.com, right?

I saw those, but had a couple thoughts - You'll have to keep an eye on the bettas (especially males). If they're constantly flaring at each other, they can eventually get a compromised immune system, and possibly get sick. The other thing I thought was that it's glass or acrylic that forms the dividers (at least the ones I saw), which would make it so there's no circulation. So you wouldn't really be able to use a heater or filter, which sort of defeats the purpose of having them in a tank (as oppose to say bowls).

But if she sets it up, I'd love to see how it works for her :)

Marcus - took me a while, I was trying to figure out why you reposted my pic. Then I realized you brightened it. He looks even better in the re-touched pic ;)
