General Care Discussion :: Another two RES [Wrong Section]

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Again, I’m very sorry if my previous comments seemed harsh. You do sound like you are doing your best and doing a good job of being a responsible turtle keeper.

There was just something about the original post that struck me as problematic – and I think you’ve helped me put my finger on it.

It’s this guy that noob empty refers to - the "guy" in the story quoted below (with my emphasis in bold) . This guy is the one behaving irresponsibly, and IMHO, he really needs to stop incubating turtle eggs! :

n00bEmpty wrote: Then, somebody brought some more turtles to my mom's place right. He gave them to us but my mom gave him some money for giving them since he's the one who gave us the first two. I put them in the same habitat for the new ones but they were too small! My larger turtles thought they were food and munched on them. Another one died, but I didn't intended on killing it. I separated the other one into another enclosure. The guy brought another two turtles! I was like "damn" but it seems like he's breeding them and giving them away or something, I don't know but we're getting these turtles. He gives them several people and I've been the most successful with them because not only do they eat but they also get to know me. The other people's turtle died or simply starved to death. He also said that he put a bunch of hatchlings into the local lake and it was raining like hell and freezing cold too.

(EDIT for clarification - NOT Noobempty - "the guy" that noobempty refers to by no name other than "the guy" - HE's the guy I'm talking about. NOT Noob empty - The mystery "guy" is the one who should be more responsible)

Sorry again if that was somehow confusing - The "guy". The "somebody". This mystery individual who is giving people multiple hatchilings, then giving them to other people too like noobempty's friends who either starve them to death, other wise kill them, or appearantly quite often re-gift them to noob empty so that he has even more - not to mention that he also seems to dump them in local lakes. THAT guy. Not Noobempty, mystery guy - he's the one. Somebody ought to tell HIM to knock it off!

What are you talking about? LOL You're confusing me.

I tried to be very clear - but maybe I wasn't. I'll edit my above post to try and make it more clear. I'm not talking about noobempty - I'm talking about the guy who is giving away hatchlings right and left and dumping hatchlings in the lake - he is incubating fertile turtle eggs, or at the very least, he keeps a reproducing population and he allows and allows the eggs to incubate naturally, but one way or the other the eggs are incubating and there's a whole bunch of baby turtles being given away to people willy nilly and even being dumped in local lakes. That's what I'm talking about. THAT guy.

I'm not taking a shot at noob empty. I did say it seems that noob is doing his best and doing a wonderful job with all these turtles.
