The filter has nothing to do with keeping the water warm, it has to do with keeping the water clean and moving. If you mean the heater, how warm is your water and is it the same temp day and night, even with the lights off?

filter has nothing to do with the heat.....and you NEED a heater, if the water temp fluctuates to much, it can kill your turtle, can you give us a list of exactly what you have?

If a turtle is chewing on fake plants I would assume it's hungry and wanting more food and might be lacking some nutrients. Are you giving it cuttlebone? And try putting some live plants in there such as anacharis, if your turtle is munching on fake plants, it'll love the real plants which is a good source of nutrients.

I did look at your setup which is why I asked you about the heater, lights and basking area. I saw none of them. A turtle needs a place to get out of the water completely to dry off. Over that basking area you need a source of UVB/UVA light, either in combo form or seperate bulbs. Have you read the info on basic RES care which is on the main turtle website? If not, I suggest you read it along with what foods you should and should not feed your turtle. Taking the time to read all that now, could prevent a lot of problems down the line.

I am going to buy a heater, some chrickets,a UVA/UVB lamp, and cuttlebone.I never new the difference, and I have 2 basking areas,I just took a picture of the whole aquarium, before putting the basking area in.As for live plants,no thanks,I had them, and I think I was allergic to it or something.I feed my turtle twice a day. She's 1.5in,and I give her 4 pellets in the morning, and veggies in the evening.I know what food to feed or not to feed Vien, she seems fine with the food I give her. It's mostly pellets,carrots,2 kinds of lettuce, apples, and I'm gonna get her some live food. She doesn't seem to like squash and tomatoes though.

apples arent a good thing to feed a lot, only as a treat, and i dont think tomatoes are good either, i dont know....a UVA/UVB lamp is going to cost $50, just get a UVB light and a regulart light bulb, its a lot cheaper.

When I first added plants to Survivor's tank, he also thought it was edible. It wasn't because he was hungry but it was because it was just there. But after a few days, he dropped the habit. I guess he finally realize that there was simply no way he can chew it up in pieces and swallow it. However, always check to see if part of the leaf came off. There's a slight chance that a small piece came off and it can be swallow. Like Ellman suggest, getting your light source separately is better (UVA/UVB). And since you're only using a 10G tank, you don't really have much option since the Mercury Vapor, T-Rex, or any other combined UVA/UVB lights are for 50 gallons and up. Try using the Reptisun compact tube version or something similar instead of buying a fluorescent tube. It'll save you some money because you don't want to buy a lighting fixture for that. It will cost more than a clamp lamp like the one you already own.
