Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:29 pm   Plastron abnormality?

My oldest turtle appears to be developing a semi thick greyish stripe down the center of her plastron, i am curious to know if this is something that is to be worried about or just a normal part of shell growth as i was told by pet store and a vet (who im not sure how much she cared about my turtle is why im not satisfied) anyone had this on thier RES and or heard of it? any info would be greatly appreciated as im very concerned for her well being, i will also try to post pics asap to show what im talking about.

now that im in hyper active worried parent mode I inspected babies and noticed that Itty seems to have a lesser version of the same thing, not sure if this makes me feel better or worse :? im hoping vet was right and she is just growing, but yeah they are my babies so a rude person who doesnt seem to care at all, even with a vet license , doesnt make me feel ok :(

It's a bit fuzzy but it looks like normal growth to me. Never seen it that prominent on a little one tho....

Looks like growth to me (it looks like there are thinner lines coming out from it where the scutes connect as well). What does the carapace look like?
