General Care Discussion :: RES getting on dock and jumping off constantly

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Ranger has been getting on his dock sitting there for a few seconds then jumping off and then repeating 5-10 times.
Why does he do this? is he bored or something?
He only does this at night.

He's probably just having fun. If you were in a tank all day with a dock to jump off of, it would probably become a good source of entertainment, right?

Are you moving over to watch him bask? This would cause him to dive (slide) back into the water. Even if you're not, it's not abnormal behavior. Just make sure your temperatures are accurate.

I agree with Christi. Since your a new keeper, you're learning a great deal and have lots more to learn. You're new to turtles and he's in a new home with the "giant head" looking at him. Make sure the setup is solid and give him a bit of time to adjust.

My turtle does that at night too! My grandma stayed over last night and Turtley kept her awake by doing that. XD
