General Care Discussion :: Turtle Eggs

My RES just laid an egg yesterday, and I'm not quite sure what to do. I know they are not fertile - she hasn't been around a male since she was a baby. Do I throw the egg away? I ready that they normally lay many eggs at once, but this one was huge (maybe 1.5") and my turtle is just 7" long - I can't imagine too many more being in there!

Should I make her a nest? I have her in a 75 gallon tank that I recently bought. I haven't even been able to adjust her old basking area to fit in the tank yet. I have no idea where to begin to make her a nest so she can lay these eggs.

What should I do?? Can I just take her outside one day and let her try to lay them?

u can let her lay the eggs in the tank since by the time u get ur nesting area ready she probably will have already laid the eggs. u should destroy the eggs, i forget what the most humane way of doing it is but urs are infertile.

You can feel for eggs and see if she's carrying any that she might want to lay soon.

Has she exhibited any further nesting behavior?

Oh.. by touching from the shell, we can feel the eggs? what about RES? cuz their
shell are so hard and thick I guess..
