Hey, im thinking of ordering some baby RES on turtlesale [not reputable].com

They are located in Texas and im in California. Do you think the turtles will be okay with ground shipping??

now my question is:

whats the best website to order turtles from and what are your experiences with ordering a turtle online?

is there no way you can get a rescued one? or a turtle from your local pet shop?

No, ive been looking for the longest time ever. i used to see them forsale all the time but not anymore.

I'd recommend turtleinc.com, they have better prices and shipping is flat $20. turtlesale [not reputable] has a very bad reputation (sadly, i have personal experience; I took my chances thinking but alas it was the same old story). I live in California, too and they charged me $29 for shipping and they died within a week. Baby turtles are hard to keep alive for the first few months anyway, and getting them at a bad place doesn't help.

@danny: I don't know where you've been looking online, but pretty much every classified site i've seen has many different turtles from baby to adult available for adoption. In my opinion (and i'm sure many others would agree), buying a turtle online is a bad idea. Even if you are lucky and get a healthy turtle you're supporting businesses that keep their turtles in horrible conditions. Why not give a deserving turtle a home and adopt??

ive been looking on craigslist, theres two ads for turtles but they are both too far for me to drive to.

has anyone had experience with reptilecity? their RES are 4.99 each with 20 dollar next day shipping.

I've had bad experiences with reptilecity. they sent me turtles in a regular small paper bag stapled together with some wet paper towels stuffed in. i almost crushed the little guy. this map turtle's eyes were shut and wouldn't open and died less than a week later.

Danny buying turtles online is safer than getting them at a petstore......GUARANTEED!
Only thing, you must know where to buy. My advice is when you type "buy turtles" in google and the results pop up, avoid all the first ones you see. Those are pretty much all the big time turtle farms, and the turtles 70% of the time will arrive sick. They just don't care and are in it solely for the money.
All the ones you mentioned have all bad reputations, but thanks to google, those are the only ones you know.....Right?

FYI, overnight shipping runs about $50.00 and is the safest and ONLY way turtles should be shipped. Some dealers will offer second day, but that again is only because they want to make money knowing most people buying turtles are kids that have limited funds so they save on shipping. And that's how you get a sick turtle.
I don't deal with RES, so i can't help you personally, but i've purchased from exoticpets.com in the past, and this guy can pack and ship a turtle "almost" as good as me.

along with what jozzep said about google, most of those are the links that pay google, but also any GREAT price turtle is something to be careful of. like the old saying goes you get what you pay for. if they are spending more money on the care and upkeep of the baby turtles they are usually going to charge more.

It's a Northern Diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin terrapin) .....I breed them and hatched the one in the picture a week ago. It was probably a day old when the picture was taken.

I think im gonna order from reptile city and see how it turns out. i have a tank set up and running for them so they'll be acclimated really well upon arrival.
