Today was a glorious warm day in the low 80's. Here in Tennessee summer is over and fall is beginning so I decided to take pongo and smee out for a couple of hours to enjoy the sun. Today wasn't any different than any other day I took them outside, Pongo in her 10 gallon tank with some sand and Smee in his 1 1/2 gallon tank with some sand, and I set them right next to each other so they could talk and hang out. Yes, it was all good. The turtles and I were outside for 30 or 45 minutes. I went inside for 30 minutes to finish my homework. Then I went outside to bring in the turtles Smee was fine and Pongo looked like she was enjoying the sun. She was in the superman position. I was glad to see her looking comfortable so I brought in Smee and put him in the tank. When I went out to get Pongo she had not moved I picked her up, still no movement, I looked at her eyes and they were blood red all around her iris. I freaked out I immediately brought her inside put her in the water and she did not move. I looked at her abdomen and she wasn't breathing.

I called my boyfriend told him the bad news. I left her outside until he came home from work. We talked about our sweet baby Captain Pongo Pockets. We decided we're going to keep her shell and we buried her in the backyard in a flower garden. Ya know, so she can have plenty of shade plus she loved hiding in bushes when I would let her walk around.

most recent picture I have it was 4 1/2 months ago.

today! :*(
When Pongo was 4 years old my boyfriend and I adopted her because she was being neglected and my friend wanted Pongo to be in a better home. I assume she was either 6 1/2 or 7 years old when she died.
This was very unexpected.
