General Care Discussion :: Pyramiding???

I have two RES's, bought about 6 months ago from Chinatown. I'm afraid they are starting to show signs of pyramiding. I feed them 8-10 adult RES pellets every other day, occasionally some leafy vegetables. They bask, eat, minimum amount of aggression.

Yeah I think I can see it starting. I would try to cut back on pellets and make sure your habitat is setup correctly. Very cute little guys you have there.

Yeah Its visible... Its Not Too Late Though,It Can Be Prevented....Try Providing Some Calcium Supplement Like Cuttlebone...
Pyramiding Is More Common In Tortoises Than Turtles...

should feed them the amount that would fit inside their head if their heads were hollow once a day.

I figured that since they were still small they should get more nutrition, but it looks like I overdid it Should green vegetables be an addition or a replacement to the pellets?

Should be in addition to the pellets, they still need the protein from the pellets, since they are still growing. You can offer green veggies at any time, there is no harm in having those available to them. You can always just put a fresh leaf of lettuce in the tank with them everyday so they have it to snack on.
