Ok here is some pictures I took off of applesnail.net of the snail breathing as I only have one shot of mine and it wasn't a very good attempt on his part to get that breathing tube up there. Usually his will look like these below

They're fascinating creatures.

And the pics with Mikey and the snail/s are a hoot. He looks like a midget compared to them!

I know I love watching them, I can take pictures for hours if they would let me. And I did have a series of pictures of the big apple snail actually covering up the little yellow snail and trying to suck him in or eat him one or the other, but those pictures were blurry. But ever since then the little yellow snail will cling to the big snail as in the picture and eat the alge off of him. Why i have no idea but he does.

But yeah Michelangelo is tiny compared to the big snail, he actually sits on the snail as if it were a rock. He's crazy like that, but then again so is every creature in the tank...

I got my big apple snail at Pet Zone, it's a ma and pa pet store. I paid 8 dollars for him. The little snails I got at Pet Zone and at Pet Land I paid anywhere from 3 dollars to 88 cents. My big apple snail is about the size of a soft ball I would say and the other ones which will eventually get to that size are about the size of a half dollar.

My turtle has eaten the little snails so far, but he doesn't go on a killing spree, just maybe on a week if that. So far my snail have not eaten or killed the other. My turtle has tried to eat my big snail but he just can't get to him and I know he really can't kill it because it is too big.

My gold mystery shell that I got last Sunday finally just moved over night lat night and is out and about. His name is Alexander the Snail (aka the Great) and I could stare at him for hours hoping he'd do something haha.

And of course, Mikey is adorable as always. :)

Yeah snails are odd like that. Some will hide in their shells and float around the tank for days. Mine hasn't done that, though the big one came up onto the turtle dock and I about ready to scream get back in the water. The snails are active at night, though my little yellow one covered in green alge is moving around right now and having a hayday with his buddy by crawling all over the big guy's shell. I call my little one with the green alge Gary after the spongebob snail. The big snail I call Big Al though I have not quite figured out of if the snail is male or female. I have a black snail I call molasses because he doesn't move much and is slow like molasses and I have another little yellow snail that I call DOA because he never moves. But that's the family besides the fishies. Though my Pleco has a name..Stick'em! Cause he sticks to everything! The rest though are not named in case they become food.

Yeah the snails are my pets. And yesterday I caught one of my little yellow snails with his breathing tube out. I'll have to load the pics when I can.

I do worry about the big guy covering up Michelangelo so I pay close attention to what goes on in the tank when I can as the big guy will sometimes just literally drop from wherever he is and fall to the bottom of the tank. So far though he's only tried to get on Michelangelo once and I was there to knock him off. I think Michelangelo just knows to avoid where the snail is clinging to incase he does decided to just drop.

I added some new pictures. I have one of Michelangelo sleeping on his big fake rock. My little yellow snail getting his breathing tube out. Since he is so little his can only go so far but he did an amazing effort and I got some good shots. And also some of the tank gang freaking out when the filter went away. Enjoy!
