On the site you can easily find that a female can get to be 12 inches long. My question is how WIDE can a res's shell become? Male or female

I have not seen much info on the width, but my female is about 5.25" x 7", so if she were 12", she would be approximately 9" x 12" :shock:

that's kind of terrifying. :shock:

the reason I was asking was for the dock of the atb I'm hoping to build I wasn't sure if I should go for a full length ramp or one that would be about 2 inches wider than her max. I never expected it to be that wide, though I guess I should have.

Just keep in mind that most females do not get up to 12".
