first elliott i saw what you said but other people were saying it was ok, you dont have to be rude to me. I have had my turtle about 9 months but i am trying to learn more about taking care of one.

Second right now I have a 10 gallon tank with a tetra whisper filter medium (it says it is for a 2-10 gallon tank) and i have a floating rock and i just bought a plant to put in there. also i have a lamy that is on 24/7. wow i am probably doing a lot wrong aren't i?

I suggest reading through the guides found on the mainsite. There's a lot of upgrading that sounds like it needs to be done, but after reading if you have any questions just ask.

We were all new to this at one time or another and I think it's good that you've realized there needs to be some changes. Now just do some research and you will be able to make your turtles habitat better for him.

BTW, I'd cut the basking time back to no more than 12 hours a day. Turtles need a day/night cycle to imitate the natural sun light they'd get in the wild. Putting the lights on a timer to come on at 7am and go off at 7pm has saved me so much headaches.

Also, start looking for an upgrade on your tank and a much better filter to go along with it. Going as large on your upgrade now will save money later since you will be needing to upgrade as your turtle grows anyway. An adult turtle can be between 7-12 inches depending on gender. :)

Post Posted: Wed Feb 22, 2006 11:54 pm   hi

actually,it might work,but I'm not promising anything.I have an algea eater that's a size of Vien and a snail.She keeps biting them,but I don't think she hurts them.Snail has a shell(even though,once she did bite of 1 of her antennas)Algea eater,just runs away from her.Besides,Vien is only a hatchling,so her teath aren't sharp enough.But since yours is 4 in,I don't want to promise anything
